Vanessa Giraldo, MSW Intern

Hello/Hola! My name is Vanessa Giraldo (she/her/Ella), and I am a bilingual English and Spanish speaking Master of Social Work student at Capella University, currently completing my clinical internship with Tropi therapy. I bring over five years of experience in mental health and community-based work, supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families, many of whom are part of the Latinx community.

I believe healing begins in spaces where people feel safe, seen, and genuinely heard. My approach is rooted in trauma-informed, person-centered, and humanistic care, with a strong focus on creating an inclusive, affirming, and culturally responsive environment. I draw on evidence-based, strengths-based practices and holistic approaches, such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, psychoeducation, and expressive arts-based interventions, to help clients gently explore their experiences, build resilience, and deepen self-awareness. For many, art offers a meaningful way to express emotions and stories that may be difficult to put into words.

I am deeply passionate about walking alongside under-resourced and marginalized communities and supporting individuals in developing self-advocacy skills and nurturing their mental well-being. A meaningful part of my work is contributing to the ongoing effort to break stigma surrounding mental health and sexual health by honoring them as essential parts of overall wellness, just as important as physical health. I strive to hold space for open, compassionate, and affirming conversations where clients feel empowered to care for their whole selves.

As I complete my MSW program in September 2026, my long-term goal is to become a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) and continue providing inclusive mental health and sexual health services to diverse communities. I am committed to ongoing learning, ethical practice, and meeting each client with warmth, curiosity, and respect as they move toward healing and growth.

Hello! I’m Manny, a master’s student in social work at the University of Nevada, Reno, and I’m thrilled to be stepping into an internship where I can walk beside you on your therapeutic journey. My path to this point has been woven from a blend of professional experience, personal curiosity, and a love for music that keeps my heart in rhythm with the lives I’m fortunate to touch.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide spectrum of clients—children whose worlds are still forming, teenagers navigating the tumultuous bridge between adolescence and adulthood, and adults facing layered, often complex challenges. Each group has taught me something unique about resilience, hope, and the power of a supportive presence. With children, I learned the art of listening between the lines, using play and storytelling to uncover feelings they might not yet have words for. With teens, I discovered the importance of meeting them where they are, validating their struggle for autonomy while gently guiding them toward self‑compassion. And with adults, I’ve seen how deep empathy, combined with tangible resources, can spark transformative change even after years of hardship.

These experiences have reinforced a core belief I carry into every session: that every person, regardless of circumstance, deserves a safe space to explore, heal, and grow. I approach each encounter with curiosity and humility, recognizing that my role is not to impose answers but to co‑create pathways that feel authentic to you. Whether we’re unpacking a painful memory, developing coping strategies, or simply practicing mindful breathing, I’m here to listen, reflect, and support you with the knowledge and compassion I’ve cultivated through both academic study and hands‑on work.

Hi, I’m Lizzeth Heimann, a bilingual MSW student at Our Lady of the Lake University with over 11 years of experience in the mental health field. I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, adults, and families through a wide range of mental health challenges, life transitions, and moments that can feel overwhelming or uncertain.

I’m an empathetic and supportive listener who believes everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and safe. My approach is client-centered and trauma-informed, with a focus on empowering individuals to recognize their strengths, build confidence, and feel more in control of their healing journey.

My background includes mental health assessments, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and care coordination within behavioral health settings. I also have experience working with immigrant communities and providing services in both English and Spanish, always with an emphasis on culturally responsive care. My developing areas of focus include trauma-informed care, CBT-informed interventions, anxiety, mood disorders, and adjustment-related concerns.

I am committed to professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice in every interaction. As I continue my training, my long-term goal is to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and provide compassionate, culturally responsive mental health services to diverse and underserved communities.

I’m grateful to work under the supervision of Monica Orozco, LMSW, LCSW, who values compassion, creativity, and genuine connection. Whether you’re seeking support, guidance, or simply a space to talk, I would be grateful to walk alongside you on your path toward healing and emotional well-being.
